Today, people have more choices than ever when determining what type of book to purchase or how to produce a piece of writing. The ways people read and write are constantly changing as technology evolves. Print books are no longer the only option; many prefer digital or audio texts. Writers have more tools than ever to compose digitally rather than using only pen and paper. What are the benefits of the various text formats and composing tools? What are the drawbacks? How does all of this relate to your work as a student?

The readings in this section will help you to reflect on your own reading and writing practices, to refine those practices, and to determine what works for you.

Each reading includes a process to preview the article, read it interactively, reflect on the text and your reading process, summarize the article, respond to it, and extend your work with the ideas presented in the article.

The readings are followed by a chapter of activities to help you make connections among the content of articles and the techniques used by the writers.
