16 Making Images Accessible

Add Alt Text

Provide alternative text for images to describe their content and function. Right-click the image, select “Edit Alt Text”, and enter a description.

Use Descriptive File Names

Use meaningful file names that describe the content of the image. For example, use “students_reading.jpg” instead of “IMG_001.jpg”.

Ensure Proper Color Contrast

Use sufficient contrast between image elements to ensure readability. Use tools like the Color Contrast Analyzer to check contrast ratios.

Consider Image Size and Resolution

Ensure images are appropriately sized and have sufficient resolution for clarity. Use high-resolution images to maintain quality.

Check Accessibility

Use tools and guidelines to ensure images are accessible and readable by assistive technologies. Follow best practices for image accessibility.
