The first part, MLA Basics, is a remix of three sections taken from  MLA Style Citations by Ulrike Kestler. The rest of MLA Basics was written by or contributed by Cathy Gaiser, NOVA English Professor and course developer. They were created specifically for NOVA first-year composition students. This part outlines the basics of source incorporation and citation in academic writing in MLA style.

The second half is taken from the book MLA Style Citations. MLA Style Citations is based on APA Style Citations by Ulrike Kestler, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, which in turn was based on the APA Style Citation Tutorial by Sarah Adams and Debbie Feisst, University of Alberta Library. Both are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. There are some interactives to help you master your understanding and implementation of MLA style formatting in your own academic writing for English and composition courses.

In addition, there are a few research exercises included from the Excelsior 2023 Online Writing Lab (OWL). This site is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-4.0 International License.
